Following the tragic crash of the Air India flight on June 12 in Ahmedabad, which reportedly left only one survivor, aviation safety is once more facing intense scrutiny.
The aviation monitoring site AirlineRatings.com has published its yearly 2025 ranking of the most secure (and potentially risky) airlines. This listing includes top full-service and low-cost carriers evaluated according to their safety records, accident histories, and various factors.
Multiple airlines received a lowest-possible, one-star safety ranking — which is like getting an “F” in a health inspection for the aviation industry.
According to the site, these bottom-dwellers were flagged for flunking audits, hiding safety data or
racking up red-flag incidents.
This encompasses airlines such as Russia’s Aeroflot, Pakistan International Airlines, and Wings Air of Indonesia—many originating from nations that did not pass crucial international safety assessments.
