MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – It was a lively Friday evening in downtown Meridian where locals and tourists alike ventured out for the ongoing Never-Ending Summer Ale Trail event.
This experience takes you through the continuous summertime atmosphere. Participants dropped by Fare on Eighth between 5 PM and 7 PM to collect their Ale Trail cards, offering an opportunity to savor beers, mixed drinks, non-alcoholic beverages, and tasty dishes before concluding the evening at BrickHaus featuring live musical entertainment as part of their itinerary.
We had a conversation with Matt Schanrock, the Director of Meridian Main Street, where he elaborated on the economic benefits and tourist attraction generated by the ale trail for the city.
“Our downtown area is extensive and highly pedestrian-friendly, making it perfect for assessing just how walker-centric it truly is. Additionally, one of the best aspects is the significant economic boost it generates. Tonight happens to be a casual Friday evening, despite being Friday the 13th, which isn’t typically considered ominous. Instead, it promises to be an enjoyable night with about 250 more visitors contributing to local spending. This influx will result in substantial tax revenue returning to the city,” explains Schanrock.
The itinerary included visits to the Threefoot Hotel, Don P’s, along with numerous other local attractions that downtown Meridian provided.
