Laguna Beach Council Approves Extension of Visit Laguna Beach Contract

LAGUNA BEACH, CA – During Tuesday’s city council gathering, members of the Laguna Beach City Council approved a 10-year extension for an agreement with Visit Laguna Beach, the local visitors’ bureau.

The voting takes place after two well-attended public hearings held on May 6 and June 10.

The collective choice indicates that the organization, supported by the Laguna Beach Tourism Marketing District, will get approximately $1.8 million each year for their efforts in boosting tourism in Laguna Beach.

As stated by the city, the Laguna Beach Tourism Marketing District came into existence in 2001 with the purpose of backing lodging enterprises through financing for promoting tourism, organizing cultural events, and fostering economic growth.

The LBTMD receives funding from a 2 percent charge on short-term accommodations, according to the city.

The City Council anticipates allocating approximately $3 to $3.3 million in the initial year of the reinstated agreement for the LBTMD. This funding will be distributed among various entities including the Laguna Beach Arts Commission, Laguna College of Art & Design, Laguna Playhouse, Laguna Art Museum, and others, as required by the bureau.

Visitors to Laguna Beach will get approximately 60 percent of that amount — roughly $1.8 million each year.
