Two airplane problems have led NASCAR to modify the schedule.
For the first time, the NASCAR Cup Series is running a points race in Mexico. The road course of Autódromo Hermanos RodrÃguez hosts the NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series and NASCAR Mexico Series.
The logistics for NASCAR transport trucks going to Mexico City are incredibly complicated.
Nevertheless, several teams encountered travel problems departing from the Charlotte area. Consequently, NASCAR has modified the weekend schedule.
In two separate incidents, aircraft encountered problems leading to their immobilization. During one of these events, an engine failed explosively while at the runway.
Initially, NASCAR Xfinity Series teams were set to start their sessions today. Following the revised schedule, these teams will now hit the tracks on Saturday instead. Rather than having two practice sessions, they will only have one practice session available.
