BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WTRF) — People across the area got the opportunity to engage in distinctive wayside events as part of the National Road Yard Sale alongside the Belmont County Wagon Train.
A 7News correspondent named Mary Flavin embarks on a journey to explore how these two occasions inspire tourists to uncover new treasures and contemplate the heritage of one of the country’s most ancient thoroughfares.

Many garage sale signs were spotted all over Route 40, beckoning shoppers to explore deals stretching from Bridgeport to Morristown.
Jenna Flood and Kelly Piatt, who are participating in the National Road Yard Sale, report that things have been going quite well for them over this past weekend.
Overall, things have been quite satisfactory; yesterday was somewhat chilly; we were seated outside wrapped in blankets. Despite the cold, business remained brisk; we managed to make numerous sales. Customers have been exceptionally pleasant and eager to purchase, which has put us in high spirits.”

Along the National Road, you won’t just discover vintage items and various products.
Carriages pulled by horses made their way through the streets of Belmont County to interact with local residents and showcase how traveling appeared during the early days of roads.
I find it awesome; not many people still engage in this practice. It offers insight into past traveling methods.”
Dick Gummere – Wagon Master
The inhabitants had the opportunity to go outside and witness the horses and wagons. This brought them to tears. They are incredibly kind, hospitable, and delighted to showcase the horses.”
