On Saturday, hundreds of travelers at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport faced delays.

Authorities stated that thunderstorms in certain regions led to these disturbances.

“The flight was somewhat delayed. The aircraft landed around 30 to 40 minutes later than scheduled,” stated passenger Kara Boydston.

Holly Iglesias mentioned that it was postponed due to reported mechanical problems.

By Saturday night, FlightAware indicated over 400 delays had occurred at DFW Airport.

Flexibility is key when traveling,” Iglesias stated. “Therefore, is it shocking? One would wish not, yet they make the most of their situation.

Travelers also had to contend with large crowds.

Authorities at DFW Airport stated that they anticipate around 1.4 million passengers traveling between Thursday and Tuesday.

“Yes, it’s quite crowded, but you understand this is a significant global center,” Iglesias stated.

“When I entered the Phoenix airport this morning, I was taken aback. Being someone who frequently travels through there multiple times annually, I noticed it was extremely crowded,” stated traveler Wayne Dobbs.

American Airlines stated that it will be running over 5,000 flights out of DFW during the holiday weekend.

“Actually, we are managing approximately 900 flights each day at DFW airport over this weekend,” stated Jame Moses, who serves as the senior vice president of DFW operations for American Airlines.

The airline said it is testing new technology to help passengers with connecting flights.

Moses explained that through technology, they can pinpoint these flights, propose a brief delay, and enable those passengers to connect to the departing flight, ensuring they reach their ultimate destination.

As the Memorial Day weekend signals the beginning of the summer travel season, American Airlines announced that it will provide an all-time high number of flights.

Moses stated that they have 12% more seats available from DFW compared to before the pandemic.

From May through September, the airline plans to run nearly 100,000 flights out of DFW.
