J’s Bakery and Café
has opened at 1124 W. Garden St., serving downtown Pensacola some of its best-selling pastries, including smiley face cookies, chocolate bars, thumbprint cookies, fruit danishes and much more.
The downtown J’s will serve as a sister establishment to the original.
original location
At 2014 N. 12th Avenue, which has served as a cornerstone of the East Hill neighborhood since 1946.
Ryan Thomas, the owner of J’s Bakery, bought the building at 1124 W. Garden St. in 2024. This same property is home to Captain Joey Patti’s Seafood Restaurant and Emerald Coast Bread Co., but he built a compact J’s Bakery outlet in the rear section of the structure.
The downtown branch of J officially welcomed visitors on May 5, offering popular items that define the essence of the J experience. After settling into its new second location, additional choices will be introduced at the establishment.
At the main branch on 12th Avenue, all desserts are prepared freshly every day and delivered here each morning; however, Thomas possesses kitchen appliances within the facility and might produce desserts right here as well when needed.
Although the new bakery will occupy the same space as Emerald Coast Bread Co., this won’t impact Emerald Coast’s kosher certification. In the future, the new bakery might sell some of Emerald Coast Bread Co.’s bread, but discussions about this collaboration are ongoing.
Upcoming in the assortment will be specialized flavor cinnamon rolls, additional morning breakfast pastries, and their iconic petit fours.
While a lot of the sweets will be grabbed to go, there are a few tables next to the bakery that people can use to enjoy their treat on the spot.
So far, they have received plenty of positive feedback from the community.
“The customers that have come by, especially those who live downtown and on the west side, are very excited about the opportunity to get something a little closer and still have the famous J’s flavors,” Thomas said.
If you’re new to J’s, Thomas encourages you to come out and try it for yourself.
To start, the shop will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday through Saturday. However, hours will soon be extended from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The best way to stay up-to-date with all things J’s is to follow
