Trump Orders Revival of Notorious Alcatraz Prison

Washington DC –

President

Donald Trump

He stated on Sunday that he has instructed authorities to restore and reinstate Alcatraz prison, the well-known federal penitentiary located on a tiny island in California, which closed down six decades earlier.

Trump stated on his Truth Social account that the prison would accommodate “the nation’s harshest and most aggressive offenders” and mentioned that the facility will undergo significant expansion.

Alcatraz shut down in 1963 because of its expensive operation, having been active for only 29 years, as reported by the US Bureau of Prisons. Today, it functions as a popular tourist destination.

Situated 1.25 miles offshore from San Francisco and designed for only 336 inmates, this facility housed notable figures such as gangster Al Capone during the Prohibition era and witnessed numerous escape efforts.

The island was taken over by Indigenous activists for 19 months beginning in 1969 as part of a prominent act of territorial reclaiming.

Designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1986, Alcatraz is currently managed by the National Park Service.

“In earlier days when our nation was more solemn, we didn’t shy away from incarcerating the most violent offenders, ensuring they remained isolated from potential victims. This is how things should remain,” Trump penned on Sunday.

“We can no longer stand for these repeat offenders causing havoc, spilling blood, and instigating chaos in our neighborhoods,” he stated.
