Jurassic Wakefield Returns: Dinosaurs Bite Again This May Half Term!

From May 24 through June 1, enjoy a week filled with dinosaur-inspired activities such as shows, movie presentations, workshops, fossil digs, and much more!

During the week, various events will take place at Trinity Walk, Wakefield Exchange (WX), The Ridings, and Wakefield Library. These include a dinosaur dig sandbox at Trinity Walk and a self-guided coloring activity featuring dinosaurs at WX. Additionally, participants can enjoy taking photos, exploring an early-years sensory area, and going on jungle jeep adventures at WX.

This is how the schedule looks for this week:


On Saturday, May 24 at WX:

Film Showing: Ice Age at 2pm.

Face painting from 10am-4pm

Family crafting sessions will be held from 10 AM to 4 PM.


On Sunday, May 25, at WX

Film Showing: The Land Before Time at 2pm.

Family crafting sessions will be held from 10 AM to 4 PM.


Monday, May 26: A Day of Dinosaur Discoveries at WX

Movie Showing: The Flintstones at 2 PM

Mini golf – 10am-4pm

Family craft workshops 10am-4pm


Tuesday, May 27

Film Showing: The Good Dinosaur at 2 pm

Storytime featuring dinosaurs for children under five years old will be held at 10 am at Wakefield Library.

Mini golf from 10 AM to 4 PM at WXYZ

Dinosaur Adventure Live: The Great Jurassic Storm – 2 pm at Theatre Royal Wakefield

Film Showing: Ice Age 2 – The Meltdown – 2pm at WX

Extend It Like a T-Rex – Pilates in the Jungle – 9am-10:00am (bookable) at WX

Mini golf – 10am – 4:00pm at WX

Thursday, May 29: Dino Disco and more!

Film Screening: Early Man – 2pm at WX

Dinosaur badge making for families – 1.30pm – 2.30pm at Wakefield Library

Kids fancy dress dino disco – 4pm – 6pm at WX

Friday, May 30:

Film Showing: Dinosaurs – 2 PM at WX

Toddler Disco – Raptor Rave – 9:30 am – 11:30 am at WXHJ

Storytime featuring dinosaurs for children under five years old will be held at 10 am at Wakefield Library.

Endless creativity: Engage in dinosaur-inspired tasks such as gem excavation, fossil rubbings, and cave art creation.

Infant dinosaur adventure: Encounter Swift, the young raptor!

Dinosaur Decor: Amazing photographic moments with dino eggs and a Jurassic enclosure.

Godzilla Movie Showing – 7:30pm – 9:30pm at WX

prehistoric chaos at The Ridings – encounter Aroara, the mighty T. Rex, who will roam around all day in her larger-than-life form!

Endless Creation: dinosaur-inspired experiences such as mining gemstones, fossil rubbings, and cave art.

Infant dinosaur adventure: Discover Tiny Terror, the young raptor!

Photoshoot options featuring dinosaur eggs and a dinosaur enclosure.

Sunday, June 1: The Great Dinosaur Finale!

Film Showing: The Croods – 2pm at WX

Family crafting sessions – from 10 AM to 4 PM at WX

Dinosaur Stroll at Pugneys – 12:20 PM – 4 PM – Test your limits by walking 10 kilometers adorned as a dinosaur, complete with treat bags and face-painting for kids! Proceeds will go towards supporting Second Chance Wakefield.
