SF Chinatown Night Market Returns: A May 9 Extravaganza!

San Francisco’s popular Chinatown night market is set to return on Friday, May 9, lighting up Grant Avenue with food, music, and local culture.

The event, organized by BeChinatown’s Myron Lee and Lily Lo, will take place on the second Friday of every month up until October, providing six evenings for festivities and fostering community connections.

Spanning five blocks from California Street to Pacific Street, the marketplace will include more than 40 food stalls along with a newly added live music stage featuring performances by artists of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) descent, according to the description provided.

Two blocks of Waverly Place will feature games, crafts, and family-friendly events, broadening the market’s attraction for people of every age.

Last year’s successful night market, which attracted more than 10,000 visitors each month, has prompted an expansion beyond Chinatown into various parts of San Francisco.

“San Francisco’s transformation into a night market city began with Chinatown,” said Manny Yekutiel, the executive director of the Civic Joy Fund.
