Long Beach’s Spring Cleaning Initiative Returns in May!

Spring has arrived, and Long Beach is going all out for cleanup activities.

On Friday, May 2, the city proclaimed the comeback of its second yearly Spring Cleanup campaign, which includes various events designed for enhancing the overall beauty of the city.

This May, we are joining forces with residents, neighborhood groups, local enterprises, and community organizations throughout our city,” stated Mayor Rex Richardson in the announcement. “We will be rolling up our sleeves to ensure that Long Beach is in excellent condition for the summer season.

The Spring Cleanup campaign was initially introduced last year—following unprecedented rainfall during the winter season, which compelled Long Beach to address fallen tree limbs, potholes, and garbage along the shores.

Last year, we repaired an all-time high number of potholes, removed countless tons of waste and residue left by winter storms, and brought new brilliance to our city,” Richardson stated. “This year, let’s continue this effort together.

The current year’s project will once more concentrate on tidying up parks and shorelines, patching potholes, and additional tasks.

Multiple cleanup events for neighborhoods and beaches, organized by different City Council offices, municipal departments, neighborhood associations, and other community organizations, are scheduled throughout May.

Residents have the option to add their own events to the Spring Cleaning calendar or learn about volunteering chances here.
