As the concluding day of the 2025 Tianguis Turístico (Tourism Marketplace) arrived, all 32 participating Mexican states prepared to say goodbye to one of the nation’s premier annual tourism events. On this fourth day held in the Baja California Convention Center, an atmosphere rich with both happiness and wistfulness permeated through various ceremonies, awards, and touching scenes. For Baja California specifically, this occasion marked a jubilant acknowledgment of significant accomplishments and progress.
Starting from dawn, the convention center in Playas de Rosarito buzzed with vitality and remarkable moments. Key highlights were the product innovation awards ceremony, during which Baja California excelled, the announcement of the event’s concluding outcomes, and a pinnacle achievement: the hosting state was honored with a Guinness World Record certification.
Baja California Proclaimed as Top Choice for Romantic Getaways
A significant achievement for the state occurred during the morning ceremony recognizing innovations in tourism products. Several regions received accolades for distinctive attractions: Nayarit was commended for promoting wellness tourism, Zacatecas for offering enriching cultural experiences, Sinaloa for advancing sports tourism, and Baja California for excelling as a premier location for romantic getaways.
The accolade was bestowed upon Dovinto Vinícola Destino, situated in Valle de San Vicente, Ensenada. This region, famous for its deep-rooted wine-making heritage and breathtaking vistas, offers a romantic, eco-friendly retreat ideal for couples looking for an escape.
Single Moms’ Handmade Trophies in Taxco
Talking to San Diego Red, award designer Delia González, who hails from Taxco, Guerrero, revealed the inspiration for the impressive trophies presented to each victorious state.
“She mentioned, ‘In Taxco, every breath is infused with art and silver.’ For her, the priority lies in promoting Mexican craftsmanship. There are remarkable artisans here, and she has dedicated herself to safeguarding their creations.”
Every accolade rests upon an intricately crafted onyx pedestal, which embodies the robustness of Mexico’s tourist industry. Emerging from this foundation is a “V” signifying “journey,” embellished with motifs depicting key aspects of the Tianguis: athletics, wilderness, aesthetics, and cuisine. Atop this structure lies the emblematic design of the event, encircled by gleaming gemstones meticulously set into place by dedicated single mothers hailing from Taxco.
A Milestone in Tourism Promotion and Global Networks
This year’s Tianguis surpassed expectations, effectively cementing Baja California’s status as a premier travel destination. The concluding statistics show the following for the event:
- 71,882 business meetings
- 1,773 buyers
- 1,187 participating companies
- Half of the meetings conclude with sales agreements.
- 3,957 exhibitors
- $1.38 billion pesos of economic impact for Baja California
- 46 countries represented
- 8,781 daily attendees
- 307 media organizations from across the nation and around the world
- 42% of purchasers from the U.S. and Canada
Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora presented these findings and emphasized the event’s success:
This Tianguis has achieved the greatest success in digital outreach, engaging with 64 million accounts. We owe this accomplishment to everyone involved—operators and participants alike—we witnessed the longest lineup of cultural, culinary, and commercial events, as well as the highest number of hotel bookings throughout all regions.
Enhancing the thrill, Baja California secured a Guinness World Record for “Largest attendance at a tourism fair within a single day,” recording 7,395 registered participants from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 29, which doubled the prior mark of 3,000 attendees.
Tacos, tunes, and much more: The festivities go on
The celebrations are still ongoing. Tijuana will be hosting two finale events designed to please both residents and tourists alike.
On Thursday, May 1st and Friday, May 2nd, between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., the Tijuana Cultural Center (CECUT) will host “El Gran Taco de México” (The Great Mexican Taco), a festival honoring one of Mexico’s favorite foods. Savor tacos from all over the country, listen to live music, and enjoy excellent entertainment at this complimentary event.
As a crowning moment, on Saturday, May 3 at 5 PM, Avenida Revolución will present the Concert for Peace with performances by the Baja California Symphony Orchestra and NORTEC. This complimentary event designed for families aims to honor local cohesion and multicultural richness, serving as an impressive conclusion to Tianguis Turístico 2025 and ensuring unforgettable experiences for everyone involved.
