As spring transitions into warmer weather, many working individuals start thinking about their summer holidays.
Some people like to bring their entire family to the beach or a water park for a few sunny days, whereas others might scrimp throughout the year just to manage the costs of something more substantial.

If the plan doesn’t involve an international trip, then the sole other major expense that would necessitate substantial savings is visiting a theme park.
Even as Disney and Universal Studios attract millions of visitors annually, many of whom return multiple times, there remains a segment of tourists eager for entirely novel experiences they have never encountered before.

These are probably the same individuals who have anticipation for years for the highly awaited inauguration of the Universal Epic Universe theme park, set to open with great fanfare on May 22, 2025.
On August 1, 2019, Universal announced their plans for Epic Universe, which was intended as the third theme park within Universal Orlando. According to Universal’s vision, visitors would have access to five distinct zones: Celestial Park, Dark Universe, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, Super Nintendo World, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic.
Given that the park’s grand opening is just under a month away, one might assume that enthusiasts who have been eagerly waiting for the past six years would be absolutely thrilled.
However, many of them are upset about Universal’s last-minute decision concerning the Universal Epic Universe project.
Modifications to Early Preview of Universal Epic Universe
Universal passholders anticipated gaining early entry into Universal Epic Universe on April 17, which was over a month ahead of the park’s scheduled debut. This exclusive opportunity initially targeted Annual and Seasonal Passholders, serving military personnel with an active 2025 Military Freedom Pass ticket, holders of Universal Rewards Signature Visa Cards, as well as visitors lodging at any Universal Orlando resort.
Nevertheless, Universal issued an update on April 29.

Universal Orlando Resort announced that starting from today, the general public has access to buy tickets for visiting Epic Universe and experiencing its innovative offerings until May 19th.
Passholders expressed disappointment over Universal’s choice.
Individuals rapidly reacted on social media platforms, voicing their frustration and letdown.
“This isn’t fair,” remarks user GriNga in the comment section of the post. “You assured an early look at the previews exclusively for annual passholders and hotel guests, yet now anyone can purchase tickets. While we realize it’s just a preview and certain rides might still be unavailable, we prefer avoiding large crowds when visiting the park. To address this issue, consider providing priority access lanes for passholders and hotel guests on those initial days.”
The official Universal Orlando Resort account responded to the comment stating, “Greetings, we want to confirm that we are controlling visitor numbers and tickets for Universal Epic Universe to guarantee an exceptional experience for all our visitors.”
A different commentator named MJ voiced their thoughts as well: “It seems we were led astray and are deeply let down. Our decision to buy these tickets hinged upon the commitment of an exclusive advance screening for AP members. Given that we’ve been faithful pass holders for half a decade, this situation comes off as quite a betrayal of confidence. Consequently, we plan to contact them with a demand for a reimbursement due to what appears to have been deceptive selling practices.”
Universal also addressed these comments with a similar response: “We regret causing any dissatisfaction. Rest assured, we are officially recording your input to ensure it reaches the appropriate management groups for further examination.”
Universal Orlando hasn’t issued an official statement regarding customer reactions since then. TheStreet has contacted them for further comments.
