Viva la Fiesta: 29 Years of Celebration!

ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) — If you’re seeking some entertainment this weekend, Viva La Fiesta returns to the Ector County Coliseum.

A plethora of activities for families to have fun with.

This year, Viva La Fiesta will span across a three-day weekend to attract additional vendors.

This year marks their 29th anniversary celebration.

Viva La Fiesta has been around for approximately three decades, offering enjoyable events for families across all age groups.

It began at the Twin Cities Speedway in Odessa.

“The concerts took place within the race pit, and we simply held them there. After two years, we realized we had outgrown this space. To accommodate a carnival and create that lively ambiance, we needed to relocate to a different area,” explained Richard Esparza, founder of Viva La Fiesta.

Families have numerous activities they can enjoy.

Amusement park rides, cuisine, tiny Miss beauty pageant, futsal competition, animal petting area, and much more.

“The children from three or four years back might have been around 12 or 15 then, and they’re likely 18 now. But those currently eight or ten years old could be between 12 to 15 presently and may not have watched these programs yet. This is what makes it wonderful; we continue expanding each new generation at our festival,” explained Richard Esparza.

The live music this year aims to celebrate Hispanic heritage with three artists performing every evening.

“Long live music and long live tradition, encompassing the music, celebrations, and culture. This year, we’re dedicated to reconnecting with our Hispanic heritage,” stated Richard Esparza.

The previous year saw the introduction of both the futsal tournament and Little Miss Fiesta.

This year, they anticipate having an increased number of participants for both events.

“Those two new events have expanded significantly. Previously, we only had ten participants in Little Miss Fiesta last year, but this time around, we’ve received thirty registrations. Additionally, whereas there were twenty futsal teams last year, the number of participating teams has now increased threefold. This growth reflects both the expanding events and the rising enthusiasm among people who want to be part of these activities,” explained Richard Esparza.
