Have you ever fantasized about starting each day in a new location?
What if you could accomplish that while staying in the comfort of your own house?
That’s slated to become reality for the inhabitants of
Storylines’ MV Narrative
, a cruise liner intended to serve as an ongoing residence for approximately 1,000 maritime workers.
The 741-foot / 225-meter-long vessel currently being built will navigate the world’s oceans, docking in various cities every few days for its inhabitants.
MailOnline Travel had an opportunity to speak with Alister Lee, the founder and CEO of Storylines, to learn more about what residents can anticipate aboard their vessels.
Alister, who has a background in real estate, states: “Our slogan is that living aboard Storylines will make your life happier and healthier. This isn’t just empty talk; we genuinely believe it. On board, we’ll feature the biggest wellness center at sea along with both a longevity clinic and an anti-aging facility.”
‘Therefore, the inhabitants will find themselves among fine individuals, fostering an upbeat attitude, enjoying sunny travels; such elements collectively contribute to enhancing one’s quality of life.’
Even though the vessel isn’t set to be delivered until early 2028, Alister discloses that Storylines has already managed to sell approximately 35-40 percent of its living spaces. The accommodations range from cozy studios at 226 sq ft/21 sqm starting at $625,000/£470,500 up to expansive four-bedroom homes covering 1,432 sq ft/133 sqm with prices beginning at $8 million/£6 million.
The residents come from approximately 20 distinct nations, and people of various age groups are included, according to Alister.
He shares with MailOnline, “Our community includes individuals in their 20s and 30s who have young families along with business owners intending to work from afar. Additionally, we also have retired members.”
We weren’t aiming to develop an area exclusively for one segment of society. Our vision is for individuals to engage with a complete community without being isolated. Having various age groups together typically encourages happier and healthier lifestyles.
Moreover, somewhat unexpectedly, not everyone aboard the ship has prior cruising experience. Alister mentions, “A significant number of individuals have never cruised before because this will be their new residence.”
It appears to be a cruise ship, but that’s about where the resemblance stops.
Although the vessel’s way of life, social environment, and wellness advantages attract numerous inhabitants, Alister asserts that residing onboard will also prove more economical compared to terrestrial living.
He clarifies, “For less than $100,000/£75,000 per couple, you can reside aboard Storylines with everything included throughout the year.” He continues, “Sell your vehicle, cancel your car insurance and utilities. This way, you can enjoy an extravagant luxurious life with minimal recurring costs and experience waking up in a different location almost every other day.”
Residents aboard Storylines will have approximately 20 various eateries and drinking spots to pick from; however, their options won’t be limited solely to what’s onboard. Alister mentions, “The ship will dock every two to four days, allowing folks to explore ashore for meals. This way, residents can also socialize with locals.”
In addition to dining options, MV Narrative will feature an art studio, an ‘oceanfront marina’ providing direct water access, along with a jogging track.
Additionally, Alister mentioned that an extra feature made a significant impact on many American residents aboard the ship. He elaborates, “Since I am from Australia, I had never heard of pickleball before, but I caught onto it swiftly. We revamped the sundeck area specifically to accommodate the pickleball court.”
Even though the ship’s schedule will be predetermined, Alister mentions that residents can occasionally choose their destinations through an application.
Kids aboard the ship will go to a school where teachers onboard conduct classes and lead outings at the various ports of call.
The graduates from that school, according to Alister, will know several languages and will have a global network of friends spanning different parts of the world.
Until now, neighbors have come together through various gatherings organized by Storylines, with Alister noting that people often bond as though they were ‘old friends reunited.’
This is great news for Alister, as he will be among the initial inhabitants aboard MV Narrative.
He states: “I have invested considerable time in developing what I genuinely believe will become the premier lifestyle community globally. Am I going to reside there? Without a doubt.”
