Inaugurated in 1926, The Breakers Hotel in Long Beach was once a magnet for Tinseltown elites such as Clark Gable, Cary Grant, and Rita Hayworth. Almost a hundred years later—and following an extensive refurbishment—the iconic structure now stands reborn as Fairmont Breakers, a go-to spot for Los Angeles residents seeking top-tier travel experiences, dining options, and wellness activities.

The 14-story Fairmont Breakers Long Beach houses a total of 185 guest rooms, including 22 suite options. This historic site blends classic elements such as exquisite crown moldings and an authentically refurbished vintage mailbox in the lobby with modern amenities within each room. Guests enjoy luxurious accommodations featuring marble bathrooms and interiors decorated in soothing neutrals enhanced by golden highlights for a sumptuous experience.

Speaking of historical touches: There was a time when you could get a dry martini at the Sky Room for 60 cents. The penthouse restaurant debuted in 1938, and the dining destination continues to dazzle with its recent reopening. The property’s food and beverage concepts are some of the city’s most luxurious. Not only does Sky Room offer sweeping harbor and city views in a setting that would be approved by Nick Carraway himself, but the food is decadent. You certainly won’t want to skip the California wagyu beef Wellington or Dungeness crab cake. Upstairs, Halo boasts the title of Long Beach’s only rooftop bar. Meanwhile, lobby-level Nettuno treats guests to exquisite Italian cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Alter Ego delivers on a speakeasy-style experience with live jazz performances and stellar old fashioneds.

Lavish standards continue at the spa, a 10,000-square-foot sanctuary made of eight treatment rooms and a tranquil relaxation lounge. The seasonal menu varies from partnership offerings like the Biologique Recherche Bespoke Facial (a sculpting, European treatment for luminous skin) to the restorative, customized signature massage.

Staying at this hotel ensures a convenient on-site experience, yet its position makes it particularly suitable for those who adore beaches. Perched prominently on Ocean Boulevard, the Fairmont Breakers is adjacent to both the beach and the Aquarium of the Pacific, as well as close to the bustling center of the city’s activity.
