STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAW) — Numerous campgrounds are preparing for the upcoming season. Several will be opening this weekend, including
River’s Edge Campground located in Stevens Point
.
It could be quite messy when the season begins. However, this isn’t deterring folks from diving into their initial camping adventure.
” Memories aren’t formed solely under the sun,” remarked Katie Mattice, who manages River’s Edge Campground.
Crews at
River’s Edge Campground
are opening their doors to both returning and new visitors for the season. It takes approximately four to six weeks to prepare all 265 locations before they can start operating.
“We now have some exciting additions for you all. The maintenance crew is currently setting up our brand-new facilities which are still somewhat of a surprise,” explained Mattice.
This season, the campground is opening its doors to 10 new families. Camping has always been a beloved custom for the Noll clan. This summer, they decided to explore some fresh experiences.
“I figured for the first camp out of the season, we would try this one. Just getting out, enjoying the fresh air, and we do a lot of side-by-siding as well. So, we go all over the state,” said Jesse Noll, whose family is trying out River’s Edge Campground for the first time.
Noll suggests that camping provides an excellent opportunity for children to steer clear of their smartphones and tablets.
“I believe it’s beneficial for them to go hunting and fishing, experiencing everything the great outdoors has to offer away from their electronic devices. This allows them to truly engage with life beyond just staring at screens,” explained Noll.
The VanDeWalle family is embarking on their sixth year with us. However, they have been camping for 21 years now.
“We’re still bringing in all our supplies. Fortunately, we managed to visit last weekend and get most of the cleanup done. Now, we only need to unpack the groceries,” explained Caren VanDeWalle, who has been at River’s Edge Campground for nearly six years.
Even though it rained during the opening weekend, campers remain enthusiastic about starting the camping season.
“Extremely thrilled. Fingers crossed that the sun makes an appearance this weekend for us to enjoy some dry conditions during the opening weekend,” stated VanDeWalle.
“It’s shaping up to be a lovely weekend. Why not spend your time outside, build a campfire, and create some lasting memories,” stated Mattice.
Camping provides numerous benefits. Those around suggest that if you’re thinking about giving it a go for the first time, it’s an excellent opportunity to venture outdoors, appreciate nature, and indulge in some entertainment.
