COLUMBUS, Ohio (

)—An indoor slide park is set to start attracting adrenaline junkies with its inaugural site in Ohio, located in Columbus.
Called Slick City Action Park, the franchise plans to launch at 1170 Polaris Parkway close to Polaris Fashion Place by early to mid-May. This 35,000-square-foot facility in Ohio will be among multiple sites being established nationwide; currently, similar parks are operational in states such as Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Texas, and Wisconsin.
We’re extremely delighted to launch our inaugural site in North Columbus, Ohio, bringing an array of thrilling experiences like never-before-seen waterless slides and exciting attractions for families, teenagers, and adventure seekers across different age groups,” stated Bron Launsby, who is the CEO of Slick City. “Our venue represents a fresh concept in amusement parks designed specifically to engage, motivate, and astonish visitors with each visit.
Every Slick City park includes slides from the “slick slide” collection—a set of indoor slides designed with proprietary slide-surface technology aimed at delivering an experience similar to that of a waterslide regarding speed and performance, as stated on the company’s website.
We’re committed to continuous innovation—introducing fresh slides regularly and concentrating on internal development procedures,” reads the statement from Slick City’s website. “A total of thirty-four patents have either been submitted or awarded for our exclusive slides and technologies.
The waterpark is set to open within the space previously occupied by a Bed, Bath and Beyond.
application submitted to the city of Columbus last autumn
It was disclosed that Slick City’s redevelopment expense amounted to $500,000 for constructing “facilities for indoor entertainment.” This includes “renovations of current restrooms, enlargement of the mezzanine level, installation of a new manager’s office, creation of a kitchen and concession spaces, addition of vendor-operated attractions, along with setting up seating zones.”
Bed, Bath &Beyond declared the closing of the Polaris branch in late 2020, as well as the outlet located at 1750 Hill Road North in Pickerington. Following this announcement,
declared bankruptcy last year and closed down extra locations in central Ohio
including locations at 3750 Easton Market close to Easton Town Center and at 1717 W. Lane Ave. in Upper Arlington.
