HONOLULU (

)— Sailing is a significant leisure activity in Hawaii. Therefore, when large superyachts become part of the fleet, they attract attention.
At 387 feet long, Launchpad is one of the largest private yachts in the world. Built by Dutch shipyard Feadship, this superyacht is packed with high-end features, high-tech systems and everything needed for luxury travel at sea.
Owned by Meta Platforms Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Launchpad is designed to explore the open ocean in comfort, privacy and style.
This yacht forms part of a high-performance fleet together with a $30 million support vessel called Wingman.
Here are seven things to know about the yacht that’s turning heads in the maritime world.
1. Launchpad is longer than a football field
The yacht spans 387 feet in length and boasts a gross tonnage of 5,528 GT. This size places it well above many privately owned ships. The vessel features an elongated, streamlined build with a Flag Blue hull and smooth contours designed for efficient movement through water.
2. It has room for 26 guests along with a crew of 42.
Within Launchpad, you’ll find 13 cabins capable of accommodating up to 26 guests. These areas are crafted for ultimate relaxation and top-tier comfort. Additionally, the superyacht includes a staff of 42 crew members dedicated to running the vessel and attending to guests’ needs at all times.
3. There are two helicopter landing pads.
The Launchpad includes two designated helicopter landing zones, enabling choppers to touch down and depart directly from the ship. This facilitates swift access to isolated areas without requiring docking. Additionally, this feature enhances the superyacht’s adaptability for exploration or urgent situations.
4. Enjoy a pool with a movable floor
One of the standout features on the top deck is a swimming pool with a movable floor. The depth can be adjusted depending on how deep someone wants to swim, or the floor can rise all the way up to become a solid surface. This makes the space useful for both water fun and open-air lounging.
5. The fully enclosed observation lounge experience
Perched at the pinnacle of the superyacht lies an entirely enclosed observation lounge featuring panoramic windows. Designed to provide expansive sea vistas while safeguarding occupants from gusts and elements, this pod-shaped area ensures coziness without compromising on scenery.
6. Deck owned by the owner featuring a hot tub
The owner’s deck includes a secluded outdoor space equipped with a round stone and glass Jacuzzi. Located at the front of the deck, this spa offers a tranquil setting for unwinding, providing expansive vistas of the ocean skyline. Its design prioritizes seclusion and opulence, aligning with the owner’s preference for personal retreat areas.
7. Beach club area
The expansive beach club at Launchpad amplifies the superyacht’s link to the sea. Serving as a hub for aquatic pursuits, this space provides seamless entry into the ocean for activities such as swimming, diving, or simply relaxing. Designed with an emphasis on comfort and ease of use, it guarantees that visitors can fully appreciate their surroundings in style.
8. Wellness zone
The wellness area onboard Launchpad offers a soothing Zen atmosphere, complete with bamboo details and traditional Japanese panel doors. Created as a peaceful haven, this space aims to enhance relaxation and health, giving visitors a calm setting for unwinding throughout their journey.
9. Cinema-theatre
For recreation, Launchpad features a cinema theater where visitors can watch movies in an opulent environment. This area is crafted to provide top-notch screening experiences that merge coziness with cutting-edge audiovisual equipment.
10. Beauty salon and wellness center
The superyacht features a beauty salon and spa services that provide various treatments to spoil the passengers. These facilities aim to ensure relaxation and revitalization, allowing guests to enjoy ultimate comfort throughout their stay onboard.
11. Jacuzzis and sunrooms
Various hot tubs are thoughtfully positioned around the yacht to offer guests multiple spots to unwind and soak in their environment. Furthermore, a solarium located on the teak deck provides a sunny area ideal for relaxing outdoors.
12. Aquatic playthings and blow-up water slides
To elevate the marine experience, Launchpad comes with an array of aquatic amenities such as blow-up slides along with additional leisure gear. Such features guarantee plenty of chances for entertainment and exploration on the waves.
13. The Wingman serves as the supporting ship.
Traveling alongside Launchpad is a 247-foot support vessel named Wingman. It carries extra fuel, supplies, watercraft and other toys, such as smaller boats and equipment for water sports. Support vessels like this are common amongst large yachts for carrying extra gear and staff.
14. The superyacht is equipped with four diesel engines.
The launch platform is driven by four diesel engines. Each engine consumes approximately 291 gallons of diesel fuel every hour. These engines deliver the necessary power for propelling a ship of this magnitude over extensive stretches and through turbulent waters.
15. This belongs to the realm of high-emission vessels like superyachts.
Studies on maritime emissions indicate that luxury yachts such as Launchpad can generate thousands of tons of carbon dioxide yearly. According to a 2024 report focusing on yachts owned by billionaires, certain private boats release an equivalent amount of carbon as several hundred automobiles do in a single year. The primary sources of these emissions include fuel consumption, operation of onboard generators, and extensive voyages.
16. The yacht was designed for worldwide exploration and distant reach.
Equipped with extensive range abilities, individual helipads, and its dedicated service ship, Launchpad is tailored for voyages to distant locations. The onboard systems are crafted to function efficiently without much reliance on coastal assistance, enabling extended stays offshore while ensuring luxury and communication access.
Luxury yachts such as Launchpad are not merely vessels; they are mobile palaces designed for exploration, seclusion, and speed.
Crafted using cutting-edge design and engineering, these vessels exemplify what can be achieved when technology and luxury converge on the high seas.
