Families Urgently Seek Answers After Loved Ones Mysteriously Disappear on Houston Bound Bus

A family from Houston is urgently seeking assistance in locating their relative, whom they claim vanished while heading to Houston.

Kawika Grant was last seen on May 31 after boarding a Greyhound bus in San Bernardino, California. He was scheduled to arrive in Houston on June 1, but his family says he never made it.

“We awaited the subsequent bus. The entire day passed, but he never arrived,” stated Arthur Bolton, who is Grant’s cousin.

Recently, Grant was discharged from a mental health center in California. As he didn’t have a Real ID, he wasn’t able to get onboard an airplane. In response, his relatives bought him a bus ticket with Greyhound as an alternative.

They said Grant has limited mobility after suffering a stroke and also struggles with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. These health concerns have only heightened the family’s fear for his safety.

“You feel guilty,” said Winona Powell, Grant’s aunt. “You know, when you’re doing your normal things. Then it’s raining and you’re wondering if he is in the rain. You know, where is he?”

The family mentioned they have looked into bus stops in both Dallas and El Paso.

“Convenience stores like 7-Eleven, fast-food places such as McDonald’s, and spots where homeless individuals typically gather — I spoke with several of these folks personally. I even showed them his photograph. Unfortunately, nobody recognized him,” Boltson stated.

In El Paso, a stranger allowed Grant to make a phone call home—the last time his family received communication from him. His relatives journeyed to El Paso to file a missing persons report, yet they haven’t had any breakthroughs as of now.

Bolton mentioned that the family has contacted Greyhound to examine the station security videos, yet alleges that the firm has shown little cooperation.

We’re on a wild-goose chase,” he remarked. “We have searched from El Paso through every location in between, contacting every convenience store and town along the way.

The family is handing out pamphlets and encouraging anybody who has details to reach out to either the Houston police or their nearby law enforcement agencies.

“Kawika Grant has a family, and we’re anticipating his return,” Bolton stated.

KHOU 11 News reached out to El Paso police, Greyhound and Precinct 6. Only Precinct 6 responded, saying they have no updates at this time.
