Artist Unveils Vibrant Mural to Launch Michelada Fest in Downtown El Paso

— A muralist from El Paso revealed a fresh artwork downtown for the inaugural Michelada Fest.

The reveal took place on Friday, May 2, at 610 N. Mesa in Downtown El Paso.

According to the press statement, the mural is a joint project involving local artist Tino Ortega and Krystall Poppin, who is a local rapper, created specifically for the launch of the Michelada Fest.

As stated in the news release, the mural serves as a “permanent homage to the city’s innovative spirit, musical prowess, and the community that keeps forging El Paso’s cultural legacy.”

The Michelada Fest will take place from 2 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at the junction of East Main Street and North Kansas Street in downtown El Paso.

According to the announcement from Michelada Fest, the music festival organized by Independent Nation and spearheaded by Krystall Poppin is a single-day extravaganza honoring Latino heritage and rhythms.

Snow Tha Product
Calle 24
Jasiel Nuñez
Tito Torbellino Jr.
Saul Villarreal
Krystall Poppin

Aside from the musical performances, attendees will also have the opportunity to savor an array of micheladas along with delicious food options offered by vendor stalls, according to Michelada Fest.

A Michelada is a chilled Mexican beverage usually prepared with beer, lime juice, various sauces, and seasonings, often served with a salted or chili powder edge. Certain versions simply incorporate beer, lime juice, ice, and salt.

As stated by Michelada Fest, a michelada represents “the ideal beverage to embody the fusion of cultures (Mexican-American culture).”

Everyone is invited to attend the music festival, and kids who are 12 years old and younger can get in without charge.
