The lead vocalist of McFly, who is 39 years old, shared an update via his Instagram Stories on Thursday regarding his flight journey. This came only a few hours after reports emerged about a plane headed for Gatwick crashing soon after departing from Ahmedabad Airport located in Gujarat, India.

The aircraft was carrying 242 passengers, including 53 British nationals, and the disaster has since sparked international mourning.

Fletcher removed the post shortly afterward and released a statement admitting that the timing was ill-timed.

“I’m just seeing the heartbreaking news about the Air India crash,” he penned. “It’s so devastating.”

“Had I known earlier, I obviously wouldn’t have posted about my flight today. I understand why that must have looked insensitive and have deleted it.”

He then thanks his fans for informing him of the news and shared his sympathies with those affected.

Thank you for informing me. My deepest sympathies go out to everybody affected by the accident and to all of their loved ones.

His apology was issued mere hours later.

The crashed Air India flight, which plummeted shortly after departing from Ahmedabad Airport in Gujarat, was transporting 242 individuals, among whom were 53 British citizens.

Wright quickly removed the image and clarified that it had been pre-scheduled before the tragic incident occurred. Posting on his Instagram Stories, he stated: “I apologize for a recent post I made following today’s devastating news. The content came from vacation photos set to auto-post using the scheduling feature. These were configured earlier this week.”

It’s an awful coincidence that today’s post coincides with such a tragic day.

“I once signed into my Instagram and noticed the post was live, so I promptly removed it. My thoughts go out to those impacted by this situation. I apologize for this error and any distress it may have caused.”

The initial posting sparked backlash from fans, including one who remarked: “This might not be the most appropriate time to share this since so many individuals perished in an airplane accident.”
