BNA Ranked Among the Worst U.S. Airports for International Travel, Report Reveals

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) — Last month, the Nashville International Airport (BNA) was part of an unfavorable report concerning international travel.

Upgraded Points issued a statement revealing the list of items
worst airports
for international travelers in May, and BNA landed in the top 3, behind Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) AND Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD).

The report is based on the average times travelers have to spend deplaning and waiting in Customs and Border Protection lines.

For years, LAX has been regarded as one of the least favorable airports concerning wait times, particularly by those living in Los Angeles, who often anticipate spending several hours in queues when planning their departures. According to the report, passengers typically have to wait around 31.8 minutes before they can approach a customs official.

Next is O’Hare with an average waiting period of 31.7 minutes, whereas BNA reports a wait time of approximately 31.1 minutes.

Here are instructions on how to watch WSMV4 live on various platforms.

“When it comes to long immigration lines, the airport you arrive at matters far more than your travel time,” the report from Upgraded Points stated. “While arriving during off-peak hours can shave a few minutes off your wait, the choice of airport is the most important factor in determining how long it takes to clear immigration and customs.”

The report indicates that wait times do not necessarily align with an airport’s size or number of passengers. Despite being significantly smaller in terms of passenger volume and overall size compared to airports like LAX and O’Hare, BNA experiences similarly lengthy waits for international arrivals.

The report also highlighted the leading airports for international travel, ranking Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) at the top, followed by John Wayne Airport (SNA), and Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX) completing the trio of the highest-ranked hubs.
