Travel Snags Prompt On-Track Schedule Shuffle for Mexico City

MEXICO CITY — Problems with travel arrangements for teams departing from the Charlotte region have led competition organizers to modify the on-track timetable for this weekend’s races at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

As per officials, two airplane problems caused several racing teams based in North Carolina to be held up on Thursday, postponing their trip for the initial Cup Series event scheduled in Mexico City over the upcoming weekend.

The significant change will involve rescheduling the Xfinity Series events. Instead of having two Friday sessions—a 50-minute practice followed by a 25-minute run—they will now have just one 50-minute practice on Saturday starting at 11:05 AM Eastern Time. Qualifying, divided into two segments for all participants, will commence at noon and fifteen minutes past twelve on Saturday, also in Eastern Time. This revised schedule precedes their race, The Chilango 150, set for Saturday afternoon at 4:30 PM Eastern Time, broadcasted live on The CW with coverage provided by MRN and SiriusXM Radio.

The Cup Series, set to host the Viva Mexico 250 on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET (Prime Video, MRN, SiriusXM Radio), has rescheduled its two Friday practice sessions to start at 4:05 p.m. ET and 5:30 p.m. ET respectively. The initial session will run for 50 minutes, followed by a shorter one lasting 25 minutes.

The schedule for the Cup Series on Sunday stays the same.

The two Mexico Series races have been moved to new dates, with the initial event set for Friday at 1:30 PM Eastern Time and the subsequent one scheduled for Saturday at 7 PM Eastern Time.
