On June 11, a motorist who was driving above the speed limit ran a red light in Milwaukee and collided with a firetruck that was responding to an emergency call, according to law enforcement officials.
The Milwaukee police reported that the accident took place around 1 p.m. at the junction of South 26th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue. Authorities stated that the 20-year-old operator of the regular car was taken to a medical facility for treatment of minor injuries.
Milwaukee Fire Chief Aaron Lipski stated that the driver was traveling in the curb lane at an “incredibly high speed” when cars were halted at the intersection, preparing to let the fire truck turn southbound onto 26th Street for a medical emergency response. The firetruck had its siren and lights on, but fortunately, none of the four firefighters inside sustained injuries.

The firetruck sustained damages to its side close to the front passenger door, whereas the regular car’s frontend was severely wrecked.
As a result of the crash, an additional fire truck was sent to respond to the emergency, which led to a delayed reaction time.
There are numerous hazards involved here, both for the MFD members themselves and for the general driving population as well as pedestrians,” Lipski stated. “Fortunately, this incident occurred in an area where pedestrians were not affected. However, in many parts of Milwaukee, should such an event occur, it could lead to additional injuries or even deaths.
I can’t comprehend why something deemed crucial leads individuals to disregard their well-being entirely, driving without the slightest hint of responsibility. This level of negligence is simply not acceptable.
The police stated that the driver will receive a citation.
