A $30 million technological center aimed at helping the National Guard enhance U.S. cybersecurity will be established at the University of South Carolina Aiken.
The ceremonial ground-breaking for the South Carolina Army National Guard’s Cyber Integration and Readiness Center is set for Tuesday close to the USCA baseball field along University Parkway.
The Aiken Readiness Center and Cyber Integration Center of the South Carolina National Guard aims to bolster the state’s cooperative cybersecurity center in the Southeastern region by uniting the South Carolina Army National Guard, USC Aiken, the Savannah River National Laboratory, and various industry experts beneath a single facility. This initiative is being supervised by Pond & Co., a leading national firm specializing in engineering and construction, as stated officially.
According to USCA, the facility will be the base of operations for the SCANG’s Cyber Battalion.
The 43,000-square-foot readiness facility and the 25,580-square-foot integration hub will bring together National Guard members and civilian technology specialists to track ongoing cyber threats and provide training for both military staff and civilians.
Three years back, state and federal authorities initiated construction on a 60,000-square-foot building for hosting an Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative at the USCA campus. This initiative aims to explore and develop cutting-edge technological innovations through research and development activities. The overarching purpose of this collaborative aligns with the goals set forth by more recent endeavors.
The article initially appeared in the Augusta Chronicle.
The center will concentrate on tracking cyber threats, educating both military and civilian staff.
