Tulips Blossom Spectacularly as Holland’s Tulip Time Festival Kicks Off

HOLLAND, MI — It’s the most splendid time of the year for both the residents of Holland and those who come to visit.

The 96th annual Tulip Time Festival began on Friday, May 2. This 10-day floral celebration will continue until Sunday, May 11.

Every year, around half a million tourists from all over the world visit to witness the transformation of city parks and the bustling crowds along the streets into vibrant displays of beauty.

For some visitors, the primary allure could lie in the abundance of blossoming flowers. Nevertheless, Tulip Time also provides an insight into Dutch heritage through customary performances, processions, costumes, and cuisine.

Nicole Mason, who lives in Grand Rapids, visited the Windmill Island Gardens for the first time with her family on Friday. The display of tulips, both brilliant and varied, left her impressed.

This is the finest they have ever appeared,” Mason stated. “They are reaching their peak at just the right moment.

Matt Helmus, the general manager of Windmill Island Gardens, supported Mason’s view, noting that the region has had ideal circumstances for spectacular blossoms this season.

Should the weather align with the forecasts, Helmus anticipates that the colors will persist for roughly three weeks.
