Charleston’s FestivALL Closes with a Vibrant Celebration of Local Art and Live Music

The FestivALL concluded its last day on Capitol Street in Charleston on Sunday. The festival featured exhibitors from across the state showcasing their creations, such as Charleston local and founder of The Queen of Arts Adrienne Galloway, who expressed that exhibiting her passion project to her home city was an unparalleled experience.

“I visited last week for the Vandalia Gathering, and returned again for FestivALL,” Galloway stated. “So this is my first time participating in an event in my hometown of Charleston since I moved away in 2017. I simply adore this place; I really do miss it.”

Many of the artworks exhibited by numerous sellers were up for sale, including handmade ceramics and rings crafted from recycled typewriter parts. Galloway emphasized that FestivALL holds significance not just for the city of Charleston, but also for each artist who considers it their home.

The reason I came into town is for the Capitol Street Art Fair. I couldn’t participate in any of the other events,” Galloway explained. “However, this is definitely the highlight; next to me is an incredible woodworker. Potters can be found all over. It’s really just fantastic and provides a wonderful chance to back local artists.

Throughout the entire duration of the event, live music echoed around. A visitor from Texas, Jason Theilengerdes, mentioned that listening to the live performances reminded him somewhat of being back home with his family.

“Having originated from Austin, Texas, we promote ourselves as the global hub for live music,” explained Theilengerdes. “As soon as I heard the music, I found myself captivated by it. Plus, all the vendors lined up there, showcasing their art, crafts, and cuisine, seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves.”
