As per the resolution, the airport advisory board has suggested to the city council that they should choose American Airlines for a two-year agreement, which also gained support from airport management. This selection awaits final approval from the DOT.
It is claimed that American Airlines suggested offering six weekly round-trip flights to Dallas-Fort Worth and six weekly round-trip flights to O’Hare using 65-seater planes.
As outlined in the agenda report, on May 2, the DOT presented six airline proposals for CGI’s upcoming Essential Air Service contract. The city must deliver its recommendation to the DOT by May 30. The present agreement is set to conclude on October 1.
The six airlines included Southern Airways, Air Wisconsin, Denver Air Connection, SkyWest, Contour, and American Airlines.
