With summer approaching, the U.S. witnesses its busiest period for air travel. However, prior to takeoff, a previous aviator wants to alert all travelers about safeguarding their possessions to prevent loss.
Captain Steve Scheibner, an American Airlines pilot known online as Captain Steeeve, has alerted passengers about a potential risk. He recommends not storing personal items, particularly those that are precious or irretrievable, in the rear pockets of aircraft seatbacks.
Scheibner cautioned against placing your personal belongings in the seat back pocket ahead of you. Should you prefer to potentially misplace them forever, feel free to leave them in that shadowy compartment in front of you,

Scheibner mentioned that all too often, he receives reports from passengers who have disembarked the aircraft and later discovered that they forgot their belongings in the seat pocket, which tends to be a spot where it’s hard to notice or store your possessions safely.
He points out that the main issue is passengers aren’t permitted to re-enter the aircraft to search for their belongings after deplaning.
“He mentioned, ‘If the plane is still at the gate, hopefully someone who cares enough will be able to go out there and locate the item you forgot in the seatback pocket,'” he explained.
“But the odds are diminishing with every minute that ticks by after you leave that seat and you leave it in that black hole of despair. So, my friends, do not put your personal items in that seat back pocket, unless of course, you don’t ever want to see it again.”
To prevent misplacing your belongings, the most effective method is to store them in your pockets or within your carry-on luggage.
