Flight to Houston Diverted After Passenger Attempted to Open Emergency Door

On Saturday, a flight heading to Houston had to be rerouted to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport when a passenger reportedly attempted to open an emergency exit door during the flight.

When All Nippon Airways Flight 114 was enroute from Tokyo to Houston, it had to be redirected. The aircraft made a safe landing in Seattle at approximately 6:19 a.m., after which the passenger was taken off the flight, as reported by KHOU.

A passenger attempted to open an emergency exit during the flight, leading fellow travelers to restrain him, according to Chris Guizlo, a spokesperson from the airport. It was reported that the individual was undergoing a health-related emergency and has been transported to a hospital in Washington. Footage circulating online indicated that zipties were used to secure the person.

The individual’s identity hasn’t been disclosed. No accusations have been reported yet.

The aircraft restarted its journey and touched down in Houston shortly before 1 p.m. today.
