After a decade serving fresh coffee and community spirit, Berkins Blend Café will permanently close its two
Connecticut
locations.
Berkins on Main, situated within the Hartford Public Library’s Main Street location, will shut down the following Wednesday.
In the meantime, the initial Berkins Blend Café located on Hebron Avenue in Glastonbury will also close down on June 19.
In 2015, the café established itself as a community favorite. Known for its distinctive four-bean coffee blend, freshly made pastries, and welcoming ambiance, Berkins has become well-loved locally. The name “Berkins” combines elements from the last names of founders Doug Barber and Andréa Hawkins, symbolizing their joint personal and business relationship.

This has been an incredible voyage,” stated Hawkins. “We’re extremely proud of our accomplishments and profoundly thankful for the community that supported us throughout these years.
Visitors are invited to stop by for one last drink and to exchange stories prior to the closings. Information regarding equipment sales and end-of-operation deals will be announced on the website.

Barber, who previously held the position of general manager at Berkins, is set to retire soon. Hawkins plans to keep her role as CEO of Leading Culture Solutions, the boutique business consulting company she founded in 2019.
