ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) – As Memorial Day weekend approaches, theQuad City area pools have opened for the season, welcoming visitors ofall ages to enjoy a dip and create some splashing fun.
A number of swimming facilities currently accessible include The Landing in Bettendorf, Riverside Riverslide in Moline, Whitewater Junction in Rock Island, the Muscatine Aquatic Center, as well as the Galesburg Aquatic Center.

Rock Island –
Saturday marked the opening of Whitewater Junction for the 2025 season, with their swimming pool situated at 1601 Longview Drive in Rock Island.
“Since today’s temperature dropped below 65 degrees, we decided not to open the pool until noon when the thermometer reached 65 degrees,” explained Joseph Brandt, who oversees aquatic activities at Whitewater Junction.
Brandt mentioned that extensive preparation and cleaning activities take place before this day arrives.
The team undergoes four weekly training sessions to stay prepared—particularly concerning safety—as they anticipate heavy crowds over Memorial Day.
This is a summertime custom for residents here, who mention with delight that they look forward to slipping into their swimwear again.
“It’s simply soothing to enjoy the sunshine, the water, and the children—even when it’s crowded, it remains pleasant and calming, and nothing beats this,” stated Susane Hayosek, who was visiting the pool.
Despite the staff mentioning it’s a rush to get everything prepared in time for the summer activities, visitors enjoy spotting those recognizable profiles—feeling connected to their neighborhood once more.
The operating hours for Whitewater Junction are as follows: Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and during holidays they operate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For additional details, please inquire further.

Bettendorf –
A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Friday to celebrate the inauguration of the facility.
YMCA Water Park at the Landing

The Landing water park made its debut for the public on Saturday and can be found at 2255 Middle Road in Bettendorf.
Members of the YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi will have free access to The Landing.
People who are younger than 18 and do not have memberships can enter the park for $8, adults pay $14, and families can go in for $20.
The operating hours for the public at The Landing will be from 1 to 7 p.m.
Moline –
Moline’s Riverside Riverside began its seasonal operation on Saturday. The pool is situated at 3300 5th Avenue in Moline.

Muscatine –
The summer festivities kicked off over the weekend in Muscatine with the opening of the Muscatine Aquatic Center on Saturday. Located at 1 Park Drive in Muscatine, Iowa, the aquatic center welcomed visitors to start enjoying the seasonal activities.
The staff at the Muscatine Aquatic Center mentioned that following several weeks of preparations such as filling the pool, conducting water tests, and providing lifeguard training, the facility has officially opened. The regular operating hours will run from midday until 8 PM, depending on the weather conditions. Additionally, the pool will remain closed on Sunday due to the 45th Annual Melon City Criterium event.

Galesburg –
Galesburg’s outdoor water parks began their seasonal operation on Saturday.
The city provides several splash pads and wading pools along with Lake Storey Beach and Lakeside Waterpark.
Lakeside Water Park is situated at 1033 South Lake Storey Road and features two swimming pools along with various slides including a 122-foot body slide, a 30-foot tube slide, and an 8-foot kiddie slide, as stated by city officials. The park also offers extra water activities for visitors.
The entrance charge for Lakeside Water Park each day is $8, but you can also purchase multi-pass punch cards or membership options. The swimming area operates from midday until six o’clock PM every day between Memorial Day and Labor Day, with the exception of dates when Galesburg District 205 schools have classes scheduled.

Moreover, the city features several splash pads located throughout, such as those at Rotary Park and Kiwanis Park.
The ON Custer wading pool will open for the season in June once the renovations at the site are finished, city authorities have stated.
