Drivers using Interstate 80 near Bellefonte will encounter delays starting Monday as PennDOT workers initiate repair activities within a high-speed work zone spanning from mile markers 158 to 161.
On May 5, the right lane of I-80 heading east will be closed for repairs to the guardrail that was hit in an accident the previous week. Additionally, later this same week, a complete day-long shutdown of one lane on I-80 traveling westward is scheduled. This closure aims to fix road surface damage caused by a car fire back in autumn.
The two closings will take place inside the same operational construction area, with the westbound operations anticipated to limit traffic flow to just one lane. An exact date for this westbound lane limitation hasn’t been disclosed yet.
Motorists should anticipate additional travel time and stay vigilant in this region, as several accidents have occurred because of the continuing work on the interchange renovation.
