Honor Flight Syracuse – Mission 22

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — In the past approximately twelve years, Honor Flight Syracuse has transported almost 1,600 veteran servicemen and women to Washington, D.C., aiming to express gratitude for their dedication and sacrifice.

Tim Fox from NewsChannel 9 joined the recent mission to document the experiences that these veterans believe will stay with them forever.

The Honor Flight Syracuse Mission 22 was meticulously organized to transport 82 veterans from Central and Northern New York as well as the Mohawk Valley to visit some of the nation’s most revered memorials in Washington D.C., demonstrating precise coordination akin to military standards.

About twelve hours since their departure from Hancock Airport, they have returned. The mission was successful. Yet, this also provides another opportunity for tens of thousands of people from Central New York to express their gratitude for everything these individuals have done for our nation.

“When I returned home in 1970, we had to come back discreetly. No one paid attention; nobody was interested in hearing our story. Today, I am grateful for all that everyone has done for me,” stated Ron Cihocki, a military veteran from West Leyden.
