Duffy, who has
come under fire
Recently, amidst the disorder at Newark Airport, reports have emerged.
The Ingraham Angle
On Monday evening, he convened to talk about his strategy to “completely overhaul” the aviation navigation system due to multiple alarming incidents resulting in considerable holdups and personnel deficits.
We’re set to construct an entirely new air traffic control system—ranging from advanced telecommunications, to state-of-the-art radar systems, to modern infrastructure,” he asserted. “We’ll be hiring additional air traffic controllers too.” He added emphatically, “This issue has persisted for decades, but now we’re going to resolve it once and for all.
He further mentioned that the authorities “temporarily reduced the speed of traffic through Newark” because of safety issues.
When such incidents occur, ensuring people’s safety is paramount,” Duffy stated further. “Therefore, fewer flights will take off from the airport until we feel secure and assured that the system won’t fail again.
Ingraham eventually brought up
an incident at Washington’s Reagan National Airport last week
when two commercial airliners were forced to abort their landings because a U.S. Army helicopter was flying nearby. The flights were diverted just months after a Black Hawk collided with a passenger jet above the same airport, killing all 67 people on both aircraft.
According to an email
by FAA assistant administrator for government and industry affairs Chris Seen, the helicopter that caused the diverted flights “took a scenic route around the Pentagon versus proceeding directly from the west to the heliport.”
Reacting to the near-miss, which has
prompted the Army’s 12th Aviation Battalion to temporarily halt training flights
in the area, Duffy claimed the issue is that high-ranking officers were using the helicopters as a personal travel service. “No more helicopter rides for VIPs or unnecessary training in a congested DCA airspace full of civilians. Take a taxi or Uber – besides most VIPs have black car service,” he said last week.
“The question becomes, who are the VIPs? Who are they?” Duffy declared on Ingraham’s show Monday. “The top brass at the White House – they take a Suburban, or a Tesla, or they take their own car. Who do these generals think they are, that they have to take helicopters to go to meetings?”
After telling Ingraham he didn’t know who was on the helicopter, she wondered why he didn’t just ask the Pentagon. “I mean, you’re the transportation secretary, how do you not know?!” Ingraham exclaimed.
The Federal Aviation Administration “isn’t sure.” He replied after asking the DOD (Department of Defense) before subtly criticizing Hegseth, who has made a pledge.
“transparency”
as defense secretary.
“The Department of Defense has committed to unprecedented openness; they must inform us about who is authorized to operate a helicopter from within the Pentagon. I’m not sure myself, but they need to disclose this information,” stated Duffy.
Picking up her cellphone, Ingraham subsequently pressed Duffy about contacting their previous network colleague. “We should ring him immediately,” she joked.
You get hold of Pete. Give him a ring,” Duffy responded somewhat awkwardly, continuing, “She really does have a telephone right next to her workspace!
Following the transportation secretary’s ongoing complaint that “it raises suspicion when they don’t disclose the identity of the VIP,” Ingraham concluded the discussion by addressing the ex-Fox presenter.
Real World
the cast member said she would find out what was really happening.
We need to find out who the VIP is,” she said finally. “I’m going to call Hegseth during the break.
Yet, during an additional Fox News interview on Tuesday afternoon, it seemed that Duffy had not discovered his response just then.
“And do you not have any response from the Pentagon?” Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum questioned.
“I don’t,” Duffy exclaimed.
