It has been more than two decades since reality show enthusiasts first heard the iconic phrase “What happens in Cabo stays in Cabo” from the teenage Kristin Cavallari, but the proverb remains memorable even today.

Additionally, this often puts her on the travel trail. In the passage below, she elaborates on how she maintains her well-being while out of town, shares the significance of a specific Midwest city for her, and explains why she has not visited.

What does she have in her carry-on bag?
It’s akin to a mini emergency kit where I keep essentials such as a Tide To-Go stain remover stick, some mints, tiny floss picks, a travel-sized mascara, an eyebrow pencil—and let’s not forget a tampon!
What she wears to fly:
I like being really comfortable and I usually take early flights, so it’s very common to see me in a
sweat set
or some loose trouser, and a
sneaker
. And I never put any makeup on, so you’ll usually find me in a baseball cap, just to hide everything.
How she stays healthy on the road:
I understand my usual schedule is about to get disrupted; I likely won’t manage to exercise as frequently as normal, and clearly, I won’t maintain the same quality of diet. However, if I stick to a healthy meal plan and consistent workouts at home beforehand, I shouldn’t feel too bad during travel. Though, whenever possible, I’ll make sure to fit in some form of physical activity. When away for around five days, I generally aim to squeeze in two or three sessions. Concerning nutrition, you can bet I pack snacks for flights every time—food security is key for me. Fortunately,

, I know how to navigate around those cities to get healthy food. If it’s a new city, I’ll research and google, “organic coffee shop” or “best organic restaurants,” because it’s important to me. Putting a little time into it beforehand can really pay off.
The methods she uses to care for her skin following flights:
Staying hydrated is crucial, and it begins from within. Therefore, I always carry water with me when flying and ensure I’m consuming plenty of fluids.

Sure thing! I enjoy doing that after a flight to reduce puffiness a little.

Her favorite spot with her kids:
I make an effort to take at least one trip with my children annually, usually during summer. In alternate years, I manage to have them around either in the fall or.

I’ve become somewhat less extravagant as I’ve aged. Nowadays, it’s all about doing something simple and being able to stay active. In the past, our idea was always, “Let’s head to Cabo, relax on the beach during the day, and party hard at night.” A few years back, though, we visited a stunning lake instead.

is always on the list, exploring trendy towns, discovering local music—things along those lines.
Where does she find her fashion inspiration?
Sure, I enjoy going to New York for shopping; although, admittedly, this isn’t the most exciting response you might expect. It’s honestly the only place where I find myself wanting to go from store to store. I have yet to visit

Her favorite city on her recent podcast tour:
I love
Chicago
I’ve resided in Chicago during two distinct periods of my life. The city has consistently supported every endeavor I undertook. Whenever I visit, I genuinely sense an affectionate welcome from the place itself. My children were all born there, and I maintain strong friendships and numerous familial connections within the community. For these reasons, Chicago holds a very dear spot in my heart, making each return trip truly enjoyable. It also boasts what remains my most cherished audience experience.
What traveling with her family is like nowadays:
It has certainly become simpler. Back then, simply having them settle down during takeoffs and landings felt impossible. Now, I barely need to keep them entertained throughout the entire trip as they manage quite well on their own. Currently, my children are at an age where they easily befriend others at the swimming pool. This stage with my kids is truly delightful for me. It’s such a pleasant period since none of us face significant troubles yet. Unlike in high school, where concerns like alcohol consumption or driving come up, these issues aren’t present now. Plus, they handle many things independently and possess vibrant personalities—they crack jokes all the time too! Our family dynamics flow smoothly right now. When I shared this sentiment with my mother, she responded, “That’s wonderful that you recognize how positive this moment is, because often people only appreciate these stages once they reflect upon them.” Grateful for being conscious of this fantastic phase, indeed.
The hotel feature she really values:
A very comfy bed, although truthfully it’s mostly about the pillows. Most hotels provide quite slim pillows, but as I’ve aged, I find them unusable. Thin pillows ruin my neck alignment! Therefore, I require plusher ones. All I’m looking for is a truly snug hotel room.
The locations she aims to visit next:
I mean, I’ve got numerous places on my bucket list that I’m eager to visit. I’d love to go to
Japan
I would like to go to
the Maldives
I have never visited Paris. I would like to go there.
Spain
There are numerous destinations I aspire to visit, but these require substantial travel commitments—which clearly take up considerable time. Regarding Paris specifically, I plan to save until I am in a committed partnership with someone special whom I wish to explore the city with for their initial visit alongside mine.
