Sen. Hawley Announces Approval for Missouri Disaster Declaration

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI (KFVS) – The state’s top-ranking U.S. Senator expresses his belief that the region will secure federal disaster aid.

Senator Josh Hawley stated that southeast Missouri requires assistance, and he is working hard to secure it for them.

Governor Mike Kehoe asked for federal help for a total of 26 counties.
In two separate requests related to tornadoes and severe storms occurring in mid-March, late March, and early April.

And Hawley told Heartland News the declaration is moving in the right direction.

Yes, in fact, I spoke with the White House regarding this matter only a day or two back. They informed me that the approval process is progressing as scheduled, and we should soon receive an official announcement approving our disaster request,” he stated. “Take my word for it; we’re monitoring this situation minute by minute. That aid is crucial because those storms were devastating—dozen individuals tragically lost their lives. As you reported, countless others now require assistance to rebuild and seek the individual relief provided under federal laws. Thus, we urgently need this backing.

Kehoe requested both public and individual aid—depending on the evaluations conducted in each county.

Government aid supports local authorities, religious organizations, and nonprofits. Personal support assists with repairing homes, fixing cars, and restoring various belongings.
