President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sanctioned the implementation of National Identity Number Verification across all federal government offices, including ministries, departments, and agencies.
This follows the approval by the Nigerian government for the establishment of the National Identity Management Commission, aimed at facilitating secure and smooth identity verification through NIN authentication.
This information was revealed in a statement on Tuesday by NIMC spokesperson Dr Kayode Adegoke.
He mentioned that NINAuth is an advanced set of services encompassing web, API, and mobile authentication aimed at boosting data security, safeguarding privacy, and easing citizen and legal resident access to governmental services for verifying their identities.
The NIMC NINAuth app serves as the authorized platform for connecting with the commission’s backend systems. This application adds a strong security measure, giving people more authority over their personal data.
“Through obtaining clear permission prior to sharing information for Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures or additional verification steps, the platform promotes confidence, openness, and individual control over personal identification within online identity management,” part of the declaration states.
