, travel sustains approximately 15 million jobs within the nation and contributes $2.9 million to the economy.
The travel sector plays a vital role in the prosperity of all sectors and remains crucial for the economic growth, progress, and labor force of both North Platte and Lincoln County,” stated Mayor Brandon Kelliher of North Platte. “In 2024 alone, tourism expenditures contributed an impressive $89 billion towards state and municipal taxes, which helps fund key services like schooling and emergency responses throughout North Platte and nationwide.
Travel Nebraska states that in 2024, tourism was once again among Nebraska’s key economic contributors.
- Hotel tax income surpassed $8 million.
- 80% of non-resident visitors opted for paid lodging options.
- More than 42,000 jobs were sustained by tourism.
2024 marked yet another record-breaking year for tourism in Nebraska,” stated John Ricks, the executive director of Visit Nebraska. “We’re actively working towards promoting awareness about how boosting visitor numbers benefits local communities, which consequently helps maintain our state as an excellent destination for visits, employment, and residence.
