) – As the summer travel season intensifies, the
Shreveport Regional Airport
will require a
REAL ID
beginning Wednesday, May 7.
According to
Homeland Security
On May 7, 2025, individuals traveling within the U.S. will need to have a REAL ID-compliant document for boarding domestic flights and entering specific federal buildings.

The updated identification card will feature a gold star to facilitate clearance through the TSA checkpoints. According to the airport director, having your passport or military ID ready can serve as an alternate option; otherwise, you might face delays reaching your gate on schedule.

Elton Richez mentioned that during a recent journey, he had both his driver’s license and passport with him. He couldn’t remember precisely which specific airport wouldn’t be able to process his passport right away.
The airport officials inquired if he possessed any extra identification documents.
“My REAL ID, and it went real quick,” said Richey, traveling into Shreveport Regional Airport.
Starting from May 7th, Real IDs will be required for all air travel.
