After months of anticipation for urgent maintenance work, the entryway to the Hoh Rainforest will be accessible again later this week.
On Thursday, May 8, Hoh Rain Forest Road is scheduled to officially reopen, as announced by Governor Bob Ferguson. Earlier, he had committed $650,000 for the repair of this key route in the park.
The backstory
The
roadway was washed out
due to the bomb cyclone in late 2024. At one point, local residents grew worried about the pace of both repair efforts and funding. They raised $27,000 to accelerate three processes before the crucial summer income period began.
What’s next
The thoroughfare will be reopened at midday on Thursday, reinstating the primary route to the internationally renowned site located on the park’s western edge within the bounds of Olympic National Park.
