Madison’s Art Walk Spotlights 60 Neighborhood Creators

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) — Over thirty artists from Madison’s Marquette and Atwood districts showcased their work in their front yards and driveways during the 15th yearly Marquette-Atwood Art Walk held this past Sunday.

The event showcased artists at 39 different locations around the neighborhood, inviting both residents and tourists to explore the picturesque areas on foot.

The art walk originated with two potters who aimed to boost art promotion and foster creativity.

Currently showcasing work from 60 different artists, this event highlights an array of artistic expressions such as jewelry, paintings, ceramics, candles, mixed media pieces, rugs, and various home decor items.

“We have artists who return annually whenever they can, due to the high attendance, the enjoyable atmosphere, and the great feedback they receive,” organizer Debbie Olin mentioned.

For Olin, who additionally crafts jewelry from chain mail, expressing her artwork evokes a single term for her.

“It’s just joy,” she said. “It feels good to share it. I don’t make it to sell it. I make it to see my neighbors wearing it. I’ll be in restaurant and spot one of my pieces and be like ‘oh, I made that,’ and that’s just fun.”
