Racine Zoo Marks 30 Years of Cigars, Cuisine, and Conservation

The Racine Zoo is marking a major milestone with the return of its annual Cigar Dinner on Thursday, July 17. The event will celebrate 30 years of cigars, gourmet dining, and community support for local conservation efforts. It will run from 5 to 10 p.m. along the scenic Lake Michigan lakefront.

A Three-Decade Tradition Returns

Now in its 30th year, the Racine Zoo’s Cigar Dinner offers guests an evening of dining and entertainment in support of animal care and education programs. For $125 per ticket, attendees will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, a full gourmet dinner, a premium cigar pack, and encounters with animal ambassadors.

This year’s dinner features a new addition—a live cigar roller who will handcraft cigars on-site and offer each guest a commemorative cigar.

“This event has meant so much to the zoo and our supporters over the years,” said Beth Heidorn, executive director of the Racine Zoo. “We’re excited to celebrate three decades of memories while raising funds that directly benefit the animals and programs at the zoo.”

Dinner, Drinks, and Auctions by the Lake

Guests can expect a relaxed evening atmosphere with lakeside views and a curated selection of cigars. In addition to the culinary experience, the event includes both live and silent auctions offering a variety of items and experiences to raise funds for the zoo.

All proceeds from the dinner support the zoo’s veterinary care, educational programming, daily operations, and ongoing conservation initiatives.

Support for a Local Institution

Located along the Lake Michigan shoreline, the Racine Zoo is a key local destination for wildlife education and conservation. Open year-round, the zoo welcomes guests of all ages and offers interactive programs, in addition to housing more than 100 animals.

Heidorn emphasized the importance of the community’s continued involvement. “Events like the Cigar Dinner help us connect with supporters meaningfully and provide vital funding to keep our mission alive,” she said.

Ticket Information and Zoo Access

Tickets for the Cigar Dinner can be purchased by contacting the Racine Zoo. Admission includes dinner, drinks, cigars, and participation in the auction. Guests must be 21 or older to attend.

The Racine Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last admission at 4:30 p.m. Regular admission is free for members and children under two, $9 for children ages 3–15, $10 for seniors, and $11 for adults. More details about events and programs can be found at
