Plaque Unveiled: Town Celebrates Its Hidden Star Wars Connection

A brass plaque has been installed to commemorate the link between Star Wars and a coastal town in Lancashire.

In 2021, Cleveleys seafront underwent a transformation to become the beach planet Niamos for an episode. This particular episode was number seven of Disney’s television series extension, Andor.

The show serves as a prelude to the 2016 Star Wars movie “Rogue One,” chronicling the story of Cassian Andor five years prior to the events depicted in the film.

“Cinema-driven tourism presents an expanding chance for Wyre, and we’re delighted to be contributing to this narrative,” stated councillor Lynne Bowen.

The plaque marks the place where lead actor Diego Luna along with Stormtroopers and Sandtroopers shot scenes near the FBKafé, following its identification by location manager Jason Allen, a local resident.

It is part of a wider initiative to promote Wyre’s screen credentials and encourage tourism.

Every year, Star Wars enthusiasts come to Cleveleys dressed in costumes for an informal gathering, and the newly installed bronze plaque is intended to attract more tourists to discover the region.

Bowen mentioned that the plaque inaugurated by the council encourages fans and visitors to experience the enchantment firsthand.

The link between the Disney+ series and the town has also been signified with a
