At the Amity winery Antica Terra, the chef won the Best Chef: Northwest and Pacific award at the 2025 James Beard Foundation’s annual ceremony held on Monday in Chicago.
The chef has been associated with Antica Terra for almost ten years now. Before joining them, he was employed at several Northeast Portland establishments such as DOC, Old Salt Marketplace, and Firehouse.
This victory marks Oregon’s third consecutive win in the regional chef category, which encompasses nominees from Alaska, Hawaii, and Washington, following two successful chefs from Southeast Portland.

in 2024.
Previously, Oregon secured two successive awards in 2001 and 2002. During this period, Philippe Boulot from the Heathman Hotel and his predecessor, Greg Higgins from Higgins, took home the honors consecutively.
And it happens on a night when Portland won its third national award in just three years, with NorthPortland’s
Jinju receiving the title of America’s most “Outstanding Bakery.”
