This is how Soldotna, Alaska came into being. It resulted from a program designed for World War II veterans. You can explore this history at a nearby museum.
The Soldonta Historical Society’s Homestead Museum
is hidden among the trees behind theSoldotna Little League Ballpark. This site consists of several log structures and exhibits that showcase the era of homesteading in the area’s past.
Three of the original homesteaders cabins have been moved to the museum. They are furnished and decorated as they would have been when first built. Interpretive signs offer visitors self guided tours of Soldotna’s past.
