On Friday, Monrovia’s municipal authorities requested that inhabitants, community members, and pupils contribute their own verses for the 2025 iteration of the Footnotes Sidewalk Poetry Contest.

As part of the city’s Art in Public Places initiative, officials mentioned that this program seeks to turn routine walks around town into opportunities for inspiration and contemplation.
The sidewalk poetry initiative “celebrates creativity while encouraging walkability and pride in our shared spaces,” according to the city.
The application period is open until June 27.
