– A local airline headquartered in Florida suddenly halted its services on Wednesday, causing several previous passengers to urgently seek alternative means of transport.
Silver Airways, headquartered near Fort Lauderdale, declared on Wednesday that they were halting operations immediately due to “an effort to reorganize under bankruptcy,” as stated in a post made on their Instagram account. The airline mentioned that they had reached an agreement with another aviation holding firm for selling some of their assets; however, this new entity decided not to preserve Silver’s flight paths, which covered destinations within Florida, the Southeast region, and the Bahamas.

Several passengers at Tampa International Airport on Wednesday were taken aback upon hearing the announcement, as they had not previously known about the notification when they came to board their flights.
“This was my trip back,” a traveler informed Nexstar’s WFLA.
Angela Fermin, who was also traveling from Tampa to Pensacola, mentioned that she had earlier bought a round-trip ticket with Silver Airways. However, upon discovering that there wouldn’t be a returning flight, she ended up purchasing an additional one-way ticket for her journey back, which cost over twice as much as her initial purchase.
“Getting back is quite difficult since there aren’t many non-stop flights from Pensacola to the Tampa Bay airport,” Fermin stated.
Silver Airways is urging customers to obtain refunds for their tickets via their credit card issuers or travel agents. Passengers may also choose to submit a claim with the Department of Transportation if necessary, as per reports from Nexstar’s WFLA.
