CHARLESTON, Ill. (WCIA) — Many people are familiar with Airbnb; however, upon hearing the name, most might initially imagine accommodations like houses, apartments, or condos.
The Sweeney family in Charleston is shifting perceptions by transforming their grain bin into an essential stop for visitors.
“My uncle frequently mentions that farmers work for just about two months each year, which made me want to take action to show him he’s incorrect,” stated Drake Sweeney.
“Basically, we pooled our ideas and created it,” said Michael Sweeney.
Drake and Michael Sweeney are introducing something special to Central Illinois, and they have confidence that the local community will be smitten.
The opportunity to venture into nature and escape urban living,” Drake stated. “Honestly, I’m not sure. People have traveled all the way from Chicago just to dodge the congestion and the hustle.
Each room features a high-end bathtub, an arcade machine, and televisions.
“With all these elements combined, we believe we have created something distinct that people will be eager to visit, unwind, and have a good time,” Michael stated.
Michael mentioned that this grain bin project is their inaugural endeavor, and currently, both the father and son are contemplating potential future projects they might undertake together.
